  1. About Us
  2. Pupil Ambassadors

Pupil Ambassadors

We are proud that our children feel passionately about social issues and welcome opportunities to make a positive impact on the world. Our Pupil Ambassadors are positive role models within the school community. They keep up to date with current issues and work with their peers to seek solutions to problems and make suggestions for improvements.

    House Captains

Our House Captains play an important leadership role within the school community, with two pupils selected from each house to represent their peers. Our houses - Attenborough (Green), Backshall (Blue), Packham (Yellow), and Humble (Red) - are named after four inspiring British nature presenters who have dedicated their lives to exploring, protecting, and celebrating the natural world.

Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, Chris Packham, and Kate Humble are well known for their work in wildlife conservation and for using television and media to educate people of all ages about the importance of looking after our planet.

These house names were chosen because each of these figures reflects the core values we celebrate as a school: Respect for the environment and one another, Resilience in facing challenges and standing up for what is right, and Aspiration to learn, grow, and make a difference. By belonging to one of these houses, pupils are not only part of a team but also connected to a legacy of passionate, positive change-makers who continue to inspire generations to care for the world around them.

House Captains are expected to be positive role models who demonstrate the school’s core values of Respect, Resilience, and Aspiration always. They serve as the voice of their house, listening to others and communicating effectively with children, staff, and the wider community.

We promote the role of House Captains in creative and meaningful ways to promote leadership, responsibility, and a sense of community among pupils. House Captains help foster teamwork and encourage healthy competition by promoting participation in house events. They support school life by assisting with community events such as coffee mornings, fayres, and discos, and by welcoming and guiding visitors around the school. They also attend regular meetings with the Executive Leadership Team, help maintain health and safety across the school, and contribute to the development of other pupil leaders. Through their reliability, confidence, and collaborative spirit, House Captains help create a positive and inclusive environment for all.

    Young Governors

Our Young Governors, known in some schools as School Councillors, play a vital role in representing the views of their classmates and helping to improve school life across the Federation.

One pupil from each class in Years 1 to 6, and a pupil from Penguins class, is chosen to join the Young Governors, making a team of seven. These students are expected to be excellent role models, demonstrating the school’s core values of Respect, Resilience, and Aspiration in everything they do.

Young Governors attend regular meetings where they discuss key issues affecting the school community. They help plan and promote fundraising events, support awareness campaigns for charities, and look for creative ways to raise money and engage their peers.

They are also passionate about making the school more sustainable - leading by example in reducing waste, saving energy, and caring for the environment. Whether it’s leading assemblies, organising events, or sharing feedback with their class, Young Governors show leadership, teamwork, and strong communication skills, helping ensure every pupil’s voice is heard and valued.

    Tech Team

The Tech Team is a group of pupils selected by the Leadership Team to support the smooth running of technology across the school. These students play a key role in preparing for assemblies by setting up laptops, managing presentations, and ensuring that audio and video resources are ready to go. They work closely with staff - including the Head of Schools - to ensure everything runs smoothly, and are trusted to shut down equipment properly afterwards to help save energy.

Tech Team members must be calm under pressure, confident in problem-solving, and show great responsibility in handling school equipment. This year, their role will grow to include supporting the Computing Lead, Mr Williams, in managing and maintaining technology across the school. This includes checking that devices are stored correctly, encouraging other pupils to treat equipment with respect, and reminding the school community of the importance of looking after our digital resources. Through their reliability and teamwork, the Tech Team helps ensure that technology is used safely, efficiently, and responsibly.

    Sports Captains

Sports Captains play a key leadership role in promoting active, inclusive, and respectful sporting behaviour across the school. Open to pupils in Years 3–6, this role is perfect for those who are passionate about sport and enjoy encouraging others to take part. Sports Captains are expected to be positive role models who represent our Federation and wider community with pride. They lead by example during sports events, practices, and games - showing outstanding sportsmanship, motivating their teammates, and celebrating both effort and achievement.

During lunchtimes, Sports Captains help manage equipment by setting up before activities begin, supervising safe and respectful use during play, and ensuring everything is packed away properly at the end. They help create a fair and inclusive environment where all pupils feel welcome to join in and have fun. Their responsibilities also include promoting fair play, resolving minor issues calmly, and communicating clearly with both peers and staff. Through strong leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to our school values, Sports Captains help to make sport an enjoyable and positive experience for everyone.
